Some early wearers are reporting something unexpected: “The music actually sounds better with GLOW in!”

Behind the patented invention is Dr. Stacy O’Brien, , a board-certified audiologist, entrepreneur, music lover, and mother whose mission began with a desire to protect her daughters and their friends from the permanent hearing damage some of them were already starting to experience, and what she witnessed throughout her career.

From Personal Experience to a Mission to Protect the Next Generation

While attending college in Las Vegas, Dr. O’Brien developed permanent tinnitus from repeated exposure to loud music. The ringing in her ears never went away.

She went on to build successful audiology practices across Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Oklahoma, caring for tens of thousands of patients with permanent hearing loss, tinnitus, and the life-changing consequences of hearing damage.

Her experience also included overseeing hearing conservation for more than 20,000 Delta Air Lines underwing employees, where she learned firsthand why people resist hearing protection, even when they understand the risks. Earplugs were uncomfortable. Music sounded muffled. Conversations became difficult. Their own voices sounded strange. And for concertgoers, wearing earplugs simply wasn’t cool.

When her daughters and their friends began attending raves and music festivals, Dr. O’Brien knew something needed to change.

I spent decades helping people after they had already lost their hearing. I didn’t want my daughters or their friends becoming my patients,” says Dr. O’Brien. “I love music, too! I wanted to create hearing protection they would actually WANT to wear, something comfortable, protective, and so much fun that it becomes part of the experience.

Protect Your Ears. Light Up the Show.

Developed through EARTAINMENT™, co-founded by Dr. O’Brien and Heidi Moffitt, GLOW was designed to solve the problems that keep people from wearing hearing protection. Its patented technology combines acoustic filtering with integrated, sound-responsive LED lighting, allowing wearers to become a visible part of the show.

Unlike conventional foam earplugs, GLOW is designed to reduce excessive sound levels while preserving musical clarity and the ability to engage with friends. Its comfortable fit, interactive lights, and a colorful case make hearing protection both functional and fashionable.

“We didn’t just want to reinvent hearing protection. We wanted to make it FUN,” says Dr. O’Brien. “Imagine thousands of people at a festival, or professional sporting event, with their ears lighting up with the music, all having an incredible time while protecting their hearing. That’s the future I want to see.” And if early sales are any indication on success, GLOW has a lot of success in it’s future, with the first shipment already sold out, and more just arrived!

Early wearers report that GLOW can make music sound better, with acoustic filtering reducing overwhelming intensity and harshness without sacrificing the experience.

A Growing Global Hearing Health Crisis

According to the World Health Organization, more than one billion young people ages 12-35 are at risk of hearing loss due to unsafe recreational sound exposure, including concerts, festivals, and nightclubs.

Live Nation reported 159 million fans attending 55,000 shows worldwide in 2025, an increase of 5% over the previous year.

For many attendees, loud music can leave a lasting impression beyond the memories: ringing ears, temporary hearing changes, and potentially permanent hearing damage. Some concertgoers also describe headaches, exhaustion, or brain fog after events, although these symptoms can have multiple causes.

Research has established links between hearing loss and cognitive decline, reinforcing the value of protecting hearing throughout life. While hearing protection has not been proven to prevent dementia, reducing hazardous sound exposure can help prevent noise-induced hearing damage.

“People think ringing ears after a concert are just part of the experience. But that ringing is a warning sign,” says Dr. O’Brien. “Sometimes it goes away. Sometimes it doesn’t. Mine never did.”

Taking the Music Scene by Storm: From DJs to Stadiums Full of GLOW

GLOW is making waves across the live music scene, with orders coming in from DJs and festivalgoers around the world, even churches and bands are now “GLOW”ing. DJs are excited about something cool and interactive that protects hearing while enhancing the show, watching GLOW light up in the crowd, pulsing with the music and connecting performers with fans.

“Imagine looking out from the DJ booth and seeing thousands of fans lighting up with your music, becoming part of the show while protecting their hearing!” says Dr. O’Brien.

“We envision STADIUMS FULL OF GLOW, with tens of thousands of fans lighting up together, celebrating the music, and protecting their hearing. We want GLOW to become as much a part of live music and professional sporting events, as the lights, the sound, and the crowd itself.”

“The goal isn’t to stop the music. It’s to make sure we can keep hearing it for a lifetime.”
