Sarah Curtis, Au.D. is a Doctor of Audiology and Owner of Sounds of Life Hearing Center. A northeast Ohio native ("Year 2000" graduate of Mentor High School), Dr. Curtis obtained her B.A. in Psychology from Youngstown State University and, following a year of volunteering with the AmeriCorps VISTA program, entered into the Doctorate of Audiology program at the University of Tennessee, Health Science Center (Knoxville). Dr. Curtis graduated with her AuD in May 2010 and has been practicing ever since.

Dr. Curtis was fortunate while in her program to have had many enriching clinical experiences, including placements with the Knox County Public Schools, Tennessee School for the Deaf, Perkins School for the Blind, and the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Following graduation worked for Central Florida Speech and Hearing Center (Lakeland, FL), University Hospitals (Cleveland, OH) and CVS.

Dr. Curtis LOVES hearing aids and changing peoples' lives by enhancing their ability to hear the Sounds of Life. She also is passionate about auditory processing disorders, cognitive function and hearing loss, tinnitus, pediatrics, educational audiology, community audiology, and she loves to work with patients of all ages with unique needs. As a musician and audiophile, she is particularly sensitive to the specific needs of musician patients. She takes great pride and joy in educating and mentoring future audiologists.

Dr. Curtis is an accomplished professional. She has earned her CH-TM (Certificate Holder - Tinnitus Management) from the American Board of Audiology. She currently is on the Governmental Affairs Committee for the Ohio Academy of Audiology, the Board of the Association of Specialists in Aging, and is a former executive Board member for the Audiology Practice Standards Organization. She has presented her clinical research in the areas of CHARGE syndrome, hearing aid trialing, real-ear measures, and economic disparities in hearing healthcare via posters, live, and recorded presentations at national and international conferences. She is the co-author of the "Hearing" chapter of the "CHARGE Syndrome" First and Second edition textbooks. She directs a local non-profit project, Hearing the Call - Northeast Ohio.

All of those achievements could never compete with her highest priority and greatest love: her family. Her wonderful husband is Daniel (who built this awesome website) and they chase their kids (Zach, Eliana, and Owen), golden retriever, and two cats around for fun. She is a lover of music, yummy food, Disney (and Disney World), Harry Potter, Star Wars, history documentaries, docuseries based on veterinarian clinics and zoos, and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

I would like to share my recent experience at Sounds of Life Hearing Center. I’m a professional musician with a recent significant, possible career ending Tinnitus, dizziness and hearing loss concern. I made an appointment with Dr. Curtis and it was a wonderful experience! From the moment that I called to book the appointment I was treated with patience, care and a genuine sense that everyone there was concerned about my specific case. Before my appointment, I was so worried about what was going on that I sent an email to Dr. Curtis asking if she could shine any light on what might be going on until I could get in to see her. She immediately replied with a comforting response that was calming and helpful. When I went to my appointment I felt like everyone at the office knew why I was there and was already familiar with my situation. The testing was very thorough and the following consultation was caring and personal. I left with a feeling of hope. I now have a path to a solution or at least a more comfortable way of working and living with Tinnitus and hearing loss. Thanks to Dr. Curtis and everyone at the office, I now feel that I have many more years of performing, enjoying music and quality of life.

I honestly don’t remember the last time that I went to a doctor and felt like their main concern was my care and well being. It can seem like a rarity these days. I am so grateful to Dr. Curtis. I highly recommend Sounds of Life Hearing Center.

Very impressed with the complete process. Coming here,I was sure that hearing aids were not going to help me much, I just didn’t think my hearing was that bad. After testing and getting a pair of properly set up Phonak hearing aids, I still am impressed with how much I was not hearing without them. Everyone there is very nice and professional and always making sure that you get the desired results. I drove over an hour to get to their location and it was well worth it.

Dr Curtis is the best! Very friendly and professional. I enjoyed the whole process and having been at another hearing aid place before I came here, I can tell you that this is the place to go.

Very nice and up to date office and equipment

Very impressed by Dr. Sarah Curtis. Really caring and really up to date with testing equipment. I've been to a few different providers and she is by far the most caring and thorough which really means a lot to me. I will continue to drive an hour to her office to have her work on my hearing issues

This was our first appointment for my husband’s hearing loss. Dr. Curtis was extremely thorough and explained every detail. My husband left with a set of sample hearing aids closely resembling the ones he would purchase if he decided to go that route. She was able to match up the hearing aids to his prescription of hearing loss and he is thrilled so far and so am I. He can actually hear me even if I whisper. His hearing is so much better already. He will wear these for the next three weeks to make sure that they are helping him. Dr. Curtis and her staff were very accommodating and answered all our questions and the price was very reasonable too. Would highly recommend Dr. Curtis.

She was very professional, very thorough, and very reasonably priced.

Amazing practice!!

We love Dr. Curtis. She has been wonderful with my 2 year old who is hard of hearing. She is very professional, takes her time, and is always ready to answer any questions that I may have.
