Hearing aid reviews are fundamentally different from reviews for most other consumer electronic products. The reason is because individual factors, like degree of hearing loss, have a profound effect one's success and overall satisfaction with the product. When purchasing a hearing aid, you'll need to consider more than just your hearing outcome ... Continue reading

I actually have the Naida CI Q90
It went back for repair 5 times in the first 3 years. Now that it is out of warranty…. I am afraid.
Additionally, AB has now recalled the implanted component, the HiRes Ultra, almost 2 years after the Medical School Hannover in Germany informed them of the higher tendency for the implant to fail. It appears clinics, such as Boston Children’s Hospital, have taken matters into their own hands and published their findings. HMS as well. AB is still not forthcoming with appropriate in vivo testing to find defective implants. Yes, the clinics have made them aware of this.
Oh, and all the bad reviews about AB customer service…. The comments are just being honest or …. Even kind. AB customer service can only be described with words that should not be posted publically.
I have been using bilateral cochlear processors for past 26 years. Had harmonies replace my first set of processors and was pleased with sounds. After many years , I received a letter from AB stating they were considered obsolete and would no longer service or sell accessories for them. I had to purchase Naida CI 70. I have never had any good results, seems nobody can map them to help me. I have reverted to using my harmonies most of the time , using the Haidas only due to knowing that I need to use them. Every time I use them I get frustrated and so do members of family, believing I am not using any processors at all ! I have tried to address the problem to audiologist but they too get frustrated. So , now I am 73, and not sure where to address my problem. I am not happy with this product. Batteries do not last as long as stated either. Norma Amaya-Chavez
replaced twice while under warranty. Problems with corrosion which caused poor connection in both the battery and cable to connect headpiece.
Thank you "JH".
My experience with Naida matches yours and then some. [Mainly that implant surgery 'disturbed the balance mechanism in my brain'.] I have found all claims of excellence from AB misleading. Customer service absent. In a state of frustration today, looked on the Web for 'AB-complaints' --again, thank you for being there. But please, take heart, it is still a miracle that we can almost 'hear'--don't consider anything drastic; me, too, I only wear the device when absolutely necessary.
I hate you have had the experience you have had, but mine has been the complete opposite. I LOVE my AB Naida Q90 CI. After 3 months speech sounds normal, no interference, static or anything like that. The clarity is amazing. I haven't been able to understand music for years with my HA but with my CI it sounds awesome!! I could identify songs on the radio my first day. I am a vocalist/guitarist from back in the 80s and am now working on singing and playing guitar again thanks to my CI. I love it so much that I will be going bilateral (second ear) in about a month.
AB's customer service has rocked and the reps I have dealt with are very knowledgeable and a lot of them are CI users themselves so they understand the entire process. I hate that you guys have had issues, but that is NOT the norm. The vast majority of AB users I have talked to love the product. Obviously, with all CI brands there are a portion of patients that have a hard time adapting to the new stimuli...but that isn't the fault of the technology or the product, its an issue with an individuals brain being able to adapt. The first couple days things were electronic sounding but my brain adapted very quickly and now things sound normal.
Again, I cannot disagree with the negative reviews more, my experience has been quite amazing.
Very pleased to learn of your success.
"Negative" isn't an idle lament...it indicates real issues and problems. And AB has less than appropriate customer care in my experience.
My review of the Q70 stands pretty much intact less one final bad experience. I went in for a final mapping that never happened in 2016. The audiologist was 90 miles away and at that time was the closest to me. The problem with a drive like that is I'm exhausted from not being able to sleep, so it's dangerous to go that distance. I also wanted the low battery countdown turned off but due to issues with AB making a sw update that audiologists weren't told about, the inability to update the programs, and surprise, the Q70 processor "worked" but didn't allow updates so I had to get yet another Q70 delivered to me. That made 3 trips that were potentially dangerous and nothing was done. The audiologist never submitted a bill.
Adding a review for the Q90.
Using two Advanced Bionics Naida CI-M90 Speech-Processors since two years my hearing experiences seems to be most similar to yours. At the moment I have no hope, that I find a person with the ability to fix this problem of this horrible distorted sound.
