About the Signia Pure primax

Siemens Audiology Solutions was purchased by the Sivantos Group in late 2014. Sivantos, who are based in Europe, are now in the process of transitioning out the Siemens brand name for their hearing aids, and have just released a new family of hearing aids under the new brand name Signia

The new Signia primax hearing aids look very similar to the Siemens binax family of hearing aids, and are relatively similar in terms of technology. Here is a list of notable improvements:

SpeechMaster: More than a single feature or innovation, SpeechMaster is a collection of algorithms that work in concert to require less listening effort. SpeechMaster analyzes the acoustic environment and employs the first technology that is clinically proven to isolate the target speaker from unwanted surrounding noise and other speech. SpeechMaster acts as a conductor orchestrating digital noise reduction, directionality, and amplification to reduce listening effort. This is achieved by reducing noise and highlighting the dominant speaker's voice in all speech environments throughout the day.

HD Music: Beyond the universal program, which enhances higher frequencies with its 12 kHz extended bandwidth, the wearer can experience richer, fuller sound and outstanding music quality at a concert, listening to music from a sound system, or while performing music through the dedicated HD music program. The perfect program to maximize enjoyment for music lovers and musicians.

EchoShield softens reflected sound for better sound quality and reduced listening effort in places where there is high reverberation – atriums, hallways, lecture halls, and places of worship.

TwinPhone: Sixty percent of mobile phone users hold their phones to their ear, even when there is a hands-free option. TwinPhone is the optimal solution for these wearers. It is automatically activated by a magnetic signal, so the wearer hears the caller in both ears for better understanding.

Hearing aid reviews are fundamentally different from reviews for most other consumer electronic products. The reason is because individual factors, like degree of hearing loss, have a profound effect one's success and overall satisfaction with the product. When purchasing a hearing aid, you'll need to consider more than just your hearing outcome ... Continue reading

I have had the Signia Cellion Primax 7px hearing aids for nearly a year. I have returned for warranty work both units . The left twice and the right 3 times. Everytime they say they replace the module and sometimes the part that goes in the ear. The last time they were returned (they had both malfunctioned) the company evidently had lost the settings. My original supplier is too far away to reprogram them now and I will have to pay $250 to have them reprogrammed. While I have been awaiting my next hearing test to get them reset, the right hearing aid has quit functioning as well. I am getting very perturbed with my $7500/pair hearing aids not working shortly after I have had them reworked under warranty. And I can find no way to contact Signia personally to reach out to them. Because of lack of contact and warranty work being shoddy, I would have to rate them a ZERO.

I have been very happy with my Signia 13 BT hearing aids. Bluetooth has been working great and really enjoy taking phone calls and having it streamed to my aids. Music streaming is also a nice feature and was improved with changing to a closed dome. The open dome didn't handle music well at all for me. Batteries last about 1 week. For everyday hearing, I can really see an improvement with these hearing aids. Conversations are easy to follow and I no longer need to have people repeat themselves. I can hear things now that I was missing and never knew I was missing it. For the most part they are comfortable and I forget I even have them on. One problem I have is when I try to wear sunglasses and keeping the hearing aids in place. I haven't found a solution for that yet. The biggest improvement I have had is in noisy rooms and places where there are several conversations going on. I used to really struggle to hear conversations and would usually just pretend I could hear what was being said. I can now follow and understand what is being said. The Reverberant program has been very good in areas with echo or loud background noise.

Every 3 years or so I get new hearing aids. In each case the new ones outperform the old ones. Sort of Moore's Law. My next pair will probably have Bluetooth and given my high frequency loss of -110db, frequency compression may work better with more powerful processors.

The hearing aids are very comfortable to wear. The speech and noisy environments are improved greatly. The app allows for spatial configuration so you can pick the direction of focused hearing like in a noisy restaurant. If I select the direction across the table, the noise behind me is subdued greatly, which allows for an enjoyable evening to visiting. Music and TV sound good. I'm happy with these hearing aids. Had them for about 2 months.

excellent sound when paired with my iphone 5... occasionally I have to restart the phone (two times a week) when the HAs suddenly lose contact with my iPhone. when i plug in to my Peugeot 308 and the car sees my phone as an ipod it starts playing my playlist automatically but in my ears rather than in the car stereo... I can just stop the itunes on my iphone from playing but if I want the music in the car.... I have to go into options, general, accessibility, hearing aids , audio routing to keep this from happening ("media never on hearing devices")... a little clunky. The telephone works perfectly in the car... it knows to go to the car's sound system and not to my ears automatically. --- generally very satisfied... after using them for 1 month. (pure 700 before that) -------------- looking for solution to used them with my computer... will signia market a small interface that's cheaper than the 200 dollar connection for a tv?

If you go on Amazon, you will find Bluetooth transmitters. Low Latency is suggested. This will work with their Bluetooth device. When purchased, that device will work with up to 8 Bluetooth devices. eg. phones, tablets, office phones with Bluetooth, any standard Bluetooth transmitter. You must have purchased their Bluetooth option to work with any BT device.

I absolutely love being able to get help from home. I wasted a lot of time traveling back and forth from the city to have my hearing aids tuned up (with my last aids), but now I'm able to deal with most stuff using the app, and get tune ups from my audi when I need extra help.

My hearing aid has been doing very well and I really enjoy it! After a few minutes, I forget it's even there and I can go all day with it on and not worry about it falling out or even being noticed by other people. I enjoy the bluetooth connectivity and the ability to adjust the settings on my phone. So far I have not had any problems with it.

Have only had a week now so still getting used to them. However they are night and day compared to my old ones and they were top of the line from another manufacturer. I did however have to have a cros for my left ear this time. It makes a tremendous difference. I'd highly recommend these aids.

As a musician I can say I am very pleased with these hearing aids. I also appreciate being able to take a phone call in both ears without too much hassle. I would recommend these.

Is the Twin phone feature an automatic feature of these hearing aids or do you need an app or accessory for twin phone?
Abram Bailey, AuD
Twin Phone is available without the any additional apps or accessories. Here's the description of Twin Phone from Signia: "The universal solution for all types of phones: primax TwinPhone is the optimum solution for all non-Bluetooth phones or when easyTek is not available. Sixty percent of mobile phone users hold their phones to their ear, even when there is a hands-free option**. TwinPhone is the optimal solution for these wearers. It is automatically activated by a magnetic signal so the wearer hears the caller in both ears for better understanding."

I'm looking for the best hearing aid for people with congenital hearing loss. I also work in real estate and often have clients follow me through a house and talk to me from behind me. I'd like a hearing aid that will pick that up. Any recommendations anyone?
Tim C
Hi Mark Any hearing aid with multiple programs or settings would be able to pick up people behind you. Just ask your audiologist to add an Omni-directional program. Then on this setting sound will be picked up from all around you. There are a couple of brands that can be set up with a rearward facing program (great for taxi drivers etc) but that would then reduce what you hear from the front, so probably not the best in this case. You may find a remote control or an aid that is controllable from a smart phone the easiest to use, so you can change the program on the fly. Always go for the highest technology level that you can afford, ideally the top of the range when you are still working for a living. Hope that helps. Regards, Tim

Can't seem to get my new Primax 7px to enter the telecoil mode or the twinphone mode.

I was told that the rechargeable batteries have a memory so only to charge them when they are very low. It's that true?
Member
It depends on the battery chemistry. Lithium ion rechargeable batteries have no memory effect. NiMH batteries also display little memory effect. NiCad batteries do need to be completely discharged before charging to avoid memory effect.

My Pure 7x is driving me crazy. It simply turn its sound down to barely noticeable and it has to be held off for about a few minutes before a sucessfull return-try. The audiologists simply don't know what to do. It happens both in silent or noisy enviroments. I tried other devices, such as Pure 3x or Carat and the problem repeats to all. Is it a Siemens software issue to be solved? Please help.
Silvio A
My Pure 7x is driving me crazy because without any notice, it simply lowers itselft down to barely noticeable volume. The only way to have it back is to open the battery case and leave "rest" for about five minutes or so and then turn it on again. It happens in both noisy or silent enviroments and the audiologists have tried everything without success. They don't know anymore what to do. We tried diferent models, the Pure 3x and the Carat but the problem is always there. Batteries are fine, we even replaced the Easytek device, but nothing works. Help please!

I have the same problem with the aid in my right ear. Replaced the whole aid under warranty and the new aid is doing the same thing. Left ear works fine. Can't figure out why it is cutting out in the right ear.

Wow finall Someone living the same problem! You know what they finally did? As they can't explain or understand the problem, gave all the money back. That is incredible Signia never answered to my messages and the audiologist could not find a solution. I am now wearing a pair of Phonak V90. So far so good.

and also use spatial configuration via easy tek /touch control app. its doing because in universal program spatial configuration are dynamic and their speed is not fast as humans doing so use static spatial configurations.

Hi Silvio, Can you let me know how the Phonak compares to the Signia? If the volume dropping wasn't an issue which one would you prefer? I'm looking at getting a Cros aid for the first time (single-sided deafness) and not sure which one would be better? appreciate any advice! Thanks Emily
Steve P
I'm having the same problem. I've had mine for two weeks and hate them. The volume is constantly adjusting, making me feel like I have no control over what I hear. Voices are either too loud or too soft, and back ground noises seem amplified
Member
Find a audiologist who knows what they are doing and most of your problems will be fixed. Find a signia audiologist. My signias are great. I have pure 7x. Proper programimg is the key.

I am new to hearing aids. I have high frequency loss in my left ear. The right side has some too, though much less. My main problem is hearing in noisy environments (restaurants, riding in a car). The Signia primax 7px is working well for all of you? Aids cost so much, and there are so many options I have no idea where to start.

I got a pair this week everyone tells me I I’m not so loud when I talk now and hear much better now when I used to talk people thought I was arguing but I couldn’t hear my own voice . Was the reason I spoke so loud . My wife was do happy as myse

Not very happy with the Pure 13 BT PRIMAX 7. The hearing aids are constantly readjusting the volume. I feel l Ike I have no control over what they do. Far to many bells and whistles in them. I'm going with a different model.

I dont want the batteries, i have a charget and cant use them. Tou could send a chargeable battery in stead. I purchased the pair of pure 7 hearing aids in August 2016. Paid over 6000 dollars. I hate them..tell they are supposed to have like 48 programs, a code is needed to access apps, the audiologist tells me they did not yet received the code. I have no programs, at times I can't hear what someone is saying even when in front of me. I have called them dozens of times to see if they got the code but they always say not yet. . They have not installed any programs, and I can't listen to music, it sounds horrible. I love music , it always was a pair time of mine. Ann Motlok ,Philomath Oregon

Have got different info about using easyTek with 13 BT, because i'm using Android, not iPhone. Does it or does it not work with 13 BT?
Linda W
I have the Signia Pure 13 BT and like the hearing aids. I am having trouble with Bluetooth connection staying connected. It appears unstable. Disconnects on its own and other quirky things. Isn’t seamless from going from phone call back to say my music streaming. Loses connectivity with phone or I just get one ear listening. Still working things out with my Audiologist.

Seimens/Signia Hearing Aid: Don't waste your money. I purchased a pair about a year ago at a cost of A$5,600. Right front the start, I've had nothing but trouble with them. First of all, my right ear unit didn't fit well behind my ear: I was told, there was nothing that they could do about it, because it was the shape of my ear. After about a week trying to adjust to the hearing aids, in different conditions; I complained that I wasn't happy with my hearing results; I was informed, that I needed time to get use to them, and the sound would come right. They double checked the recalibrations and once again adjusted them. About a month later, I again approached my supplier, and said that I still wasn't happy with sound quality in noisy situations i.e. sitting around the dinner table or business meeting, I might be hearing the person across from me or next to me. But when someone further away says something, I don't catch what they're saying; again they were checked and recalibrated, and again I was told I still needed time to adjust to them. After another couple of months, again I complained about my hearing issues in different situations. After another couple of months, I was still having trouble hearing people probably and asked for another appointment. I wanted to see the company's sales representative, to fix the problem I was having. On checking the computer settings, we found that the hearing aids had totally disconnected themselves from the internal electronic device, and again they were recalibrated. Situation now:- I am still forever asking people to please repeat themselves, and my family is constantly telling me to turn the TV volume down at home. The supplier is well aware that I'm not happy with their Seimens/Signnia Hearing Aids. Another couple of months, and Enough is Enough! I want to return them with a Full Refund. I have been told by the my retail distributor, that Seimens/Signia Australia won't give me a refund. With that in mind, I asked if I could Trial a different brand. A week later, I tried on a pair of Oticon's OPN1's, and right from the start, they fit perfectly behind both ears. They were calibrated and within the first few hours of use... Wow! What a difference. I'm hearing all kind of different things that I couldn't hear before. I'm still into my first week of the Oticon Trial period. * Better speech understanding; * Better listening effort; * hearing more of different conversations than before. The Oticon Technology is far superior to Siemens, and I still trying to adjust to them after a week. Siemens/Signia your Hearing Aids have left me feeling totally ripped off, and they won't refund dollar. ** The consumer watchdog in Australia has fired a warning shot at the hearing aid industry, with a new report raising concerns about patients being ripped off.
Member
First pair of aids and they fit comfortably enough and seem to work. I only have minor hearing loss so I don't really notice that much of an improvement. Doubt I will keep them though as the Bluetooth is absolutely horrid. Sounds like 10 year old Bluetooth technology that continually cuts out from ear to ear. There is popping and crackling on Bluetooth and music sounds awful. Tried to listen to an audio book and could barely follow along with all the cut outs and crackling. Conference call on the phone via the Bluetooth are not much better.
Member
the VA provided with these hearing aids and the right one died twice in 13 months hears hoping fix #2 will solve the issue

I purchased the Primax 7px on the advice from Specsavers. After 7 days I returned the aids due to one if them continually losing volume in the right aid. The pair were replaced and the manager confessed that there is a firmware problem with these aids. I paid £2450 for hearing aids with a know problem. It doesn't say much for the Siemens releasing a faulty product or for the retailers selling them. Steve Williams
